Manos Nathan - Maori Ceramic Artist

In these works I explore in the ceramic medium the sculptural potential of the waka ko iwi (funerary chests) the unique and potent taonga of the tribes of Tai Tokerau.

The underlying theme of this body of work is kaitiakitanga (gaurdianship), a reflection on it's role in the past and it's relevance in the present day.
